Erectile dysfunction medications seized in Glengormley
8 April 2011
Large amounts of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health authorities throughout a search of a home in Glengormley.
A male was interviewed by department officers about unlawfully importing and consequently supplying unlicensed impotence medications by means of the web.
The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offenses.
He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
The search was out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.
Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is crucial that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be dangerous.
"These types of items being sold, typically online, have undergone no quality control and there can be no warranty about their safety.
"You just do not know what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More notably, you do not know the effect drugs like this may have on your health."
